6 of us went on Sun 4/21 for our 1st and definately last time. 3 people in my party ordered a hamburger, all requested different doneness, yet they all 3 were brought out over well done. My husband ordered the full rack of ribs, they were old, dry and severely burnt. My 3 year old son had chicken nuggets. They looked like the Tyson nuggets I have in my freezer at home. I ordered the ravioli only to be served hard, thick pasta. Not only will we never return, but I will make sure anyone who listens will know not to visit this horrible restaurant. — Anonymous Reviewer

We love the atmosphere of the Half Note Lounge and the food is pretty good, although a little pricey. We love the Saturday evening entertainment! However, the service is terrible! We've been to the lounge on several occasions and have found the service to be subpar each time. We go early to have a drink and dine in the beautiful atmosphere, but 3 times the keg has kicked (doesn't the bartender check that when he/she comes on duty? They should be prepared to change the keg and not just say, it kicked.) We've found various bartenders uninterested in serving us food, some uninterested in serving us at all as we had to walk up to the bar to get a menu and beverages. Such a beautiful place ... please improve the service! — Anonymous Reviewer

I am ashamed that this dining experience exists within the state that I live. I usually am proud of Virginia, but this makes me not want to claim VA cooking. For breakfast, I was given instant grits. Besides the fact, that I was a little taken back, I felt bad that the chef would represent himself that way: INSTANT GRITS in the south. I ate at several other Winchester restaurants and very much enjoyed them. The Dancing Goat needs to keep on Dancing right out of town! — Anonymous Reviewer

Hope the quality of servers have gotten better. The food is great, but come on, it should be better if it is going to be a 4 star hotel. I haven't eaten there since last fall of 2010. I heard that they got Mel Pifer to help out. If anybody can get them up to a 4 Star Restaurant, Mel can do it. I will be going back. — Anonymous Reviewer

This was our second trip to The Dancing Goat for breakfast. Last time the food was delicious but the service was *very* slow. We both had the Belgian waffle with some kind of caramelized banana. We figured we would try it again since the food was so good. This time around the host was very unprofessional. He was dropping our flatware and almost being rude. Our waiter, on the other hand, completely made up for it. We both had the Belgian waffle again. They were out of bananas and when the food was brought out mine had a hair on it. I sent it back and the waffle was actually remade before being brought back out. Though it is never a good experience when you find hair in your food, our waiter Steven tried to make it as delightful as possible. The waffle and our coffee was taken off our ticket. We will probably definitely go back to the Dancing Goat for breakfast (after calling to see if they have bananas ;) ) It is very reasonably priced and you can't beat the quality in Winchester. — Anonymous Reviewer

Went to the Dancing Goat for breakfast and had a bad experience with the service. Waiter didn't write down our order and it ended up being wrong. One plate was missing toast, the other plate got sausage instead of bacon and an order was place for a fruit plate but that never came. The food was good but the poor service ruined the experience. — Anonymous Reviewer

Excellent food, great atmosphere and a very friendly wait staff. We love the open kitchen where you can watch your food being prepared. The prices are not outrageous for the quality of food you are getting. We will not hesitate to come back, have a great meal and check out the jazz bar !! — Anonymous Reviewer

My husband and I went there for our anniversary dinner recently. The food was wonderful but the service frankly lacked. The wine list was well done.

The first part of the night the waitress was attentive and the food arrived attractively and was delicious - afterward however she kept disappearing. The wine he ordered after dinner arrived quickly - my dessert took 25 minutes - not because it wasn't ready - we could see it on the counter but because she was in the back doing who-knows-what. Finally she served dessert and so I ordered the check. That took 20 minutes, my husband gave her the money and she asked if "he needed change" which never should be asked - since he assumed she wanted a 40% tip for disappearing! He declined so she took the check and then never brought the money back - we waited another 20 minutes watching her run around doing who-knows-what - the restaurant wasn't busy. Finally I suggested if we stand up we might be allowed to go home - when we did this she ran up and said she had to "run upstairs to get change" - so we waited again while standing in our coats for her to finally get him his change. It took a long time to get out of there. No matter how fine the food - if the service is poor - we are better off at Violino's. I doubt seriously if I will ever get him back in that restaurant....and she probably wondering why she only got a 10% tip. Honey he is a big tipper . . . sorry

One of the best NY Strip steaks in town. It wasn't very busy so we enjoyed a very quiet evening. The service was great and very attentive to our needs. It was our first time there but we will return. — Anonymous Reviewer
