I was a bit alarmed at the prices when I opened the menu, but the freshness, quality and portion sizes of the food left me thinking I'll likely be back. A tastefully decorated and relaxing atmosphere made for a nice lunch date for my wife and me now that the kiddos are back in school. We started by sharing the butternut squash soup, usually not a favorite of mine. A swirl of creme fraiche, just slightly sweet and the right hint of nutmeg (a little goes a long way) had us both saying yum. Tasted just like fall. My wife had the seasonal salad, which I first thought a little steep at $11.00 for a salad. But the dish was quite substantial, with very fresh and well selected strawberries and blueberries and crumbled bleu cheese. The skeptic in me expected the common under ripe, hard, sour strawberries, but these were perfect. Large enough to take half home. We also split the marinated steak sandwich. As we all know, the bread can make or break a sandwich, and the soft, chewy ciabatta bread was clearly very fresh. Bravo. Steak was perfectly cooked, with red onion and a positively addictive beer based, slightly sweet dipping sauce had us competing for the last bite. Service was curteous and competent. Only one waiter/bar tender during the lunch rush was a bit odd though. Outrageously priced chocolate truffles were heavenly. Yeah, we'll be back. — Anonymous Reviewer

Oh my new favorite place! Came with my daughter visiting from LA, and boy did we LOVE IT!!!! It is like swilling great wines, and gourmet foods like triple creme cheeses and spectacular sauces, lobster pot pie and oh yes, CHOCOLATE in your own very comfy gorgeously decorated living room... You can sit on the suede couch arrangements or lovely cafe tables - tons of unique seating choices. And the choice of craft beers and wines are endless! And even CHOCOLATE wines! And now I hear they are adding some great dinner fare items. This place is worth a trip from points East. A great date place, girls night out, bachelorette party. This place is really spesh! I hope they stick around, so you gotta go and show support. U will love it i bet. Oh and the dessert we had was SICK good and totally homemade. This lady makes a caramel to die for. — Anonymous Reviewer

What an awesome place to be. The food is great, but the desserts... AWESOME!! My favorite thing on the menu (so far.. have only been once) is the hot chocolate. I want to try them all. :) The decor is welcoming and comfy. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. Ann and Dan are great people. They seemed to take time to talk to everyone that they could. I enjoyed every moment of my evening. I will be back and often. :D Thanks Ann for the suggestion of putting bacon on the chicken salad. OH so good. :D Thanks again!!! — Anonymous Reviewer

We went in for wine and cheese and thought it was ok. We were hoping for some different wines that aren't already all over town and it seems there were a few. When we walked in it looks nice. Some friends were complaining that they had been there 30 minutes waiting to drink their wine because even though it wasn't a sweet red someone had stored it in the fridge by mistake. My date and I had expected that if it is a wine bar there would have been more education with the staff about the wine. Then menus have descriptions but we just expected that the servers would be able to suggest and explain differences. The cheese plate was (as most of the items on the menu) way over priced. Nice group of cheese but not worth the money. The desserts are all purchased in and one of the cakes is sold at a restaurant downtown considerably less. Great idea though. — Anonymous Reviewer

My wife definitely enjoyed her birthday surprise! The atmosphere, food, ambience, attention to detail, quality, and service were all top notch. It's nice having a fine niche place such as yours in the area. We'll definitely tell all our friends about it...and of course will be coming back often. Many thanks — Anonymous Reviewer

Once you have tried The Chocolate Bar, you'll be hooked like we are. Ann and Dan make you feel at home from the time you walk into their establishment until the time you leave happy and FULL !! The food here is awesome...everything from the lobster risotto, the the lobster corn chowder (my favorite) to the out of this world desserts...you can't go wrong here. Do yourself a favor and stop by, have some dinner, dessert, wine and relax. Definately two thumbs up here ! — Anonymous Reviewer

We love, love, love The Chocolate Bar. We agree with another reviewer that we wouldn't bring kids in the evenings, but Ann and her staff are so gracious, that I think it'd be no problem to bring a well-mannered child there for an early (5pm) dinner. (Though, we still haven't brought our son!) It's really hard to pick a favorite thing. The hot chocolate, with tons of varieties, was TO DIE FOR. My salted caramel was perfection and his dark was decadent. We split an order of brie and fruit with dips and bread and all of it was excellent. Then we also split the lobster risotto and it was, in a word, AMAZING. I've Googled endlessly to find a comparable recipe so we can duplicate it at home, but haven't found one yet. The wine list was good the last time I went out with girlfriends there, the salads are huge and very tasty, and the desserts are great. If I had to choose one, it'd be the molten chocolate cake with caramel. Oh my. This is the kind of place that I can see us going to regularly. Sorta the upscale Cheers of Winchester where everybody knows your name, is friendly, and you're always glad you came. :) Even if you're just going out for a late dessert with your significant other or a good friend, it's worth a trip to The Chocolate Bar! — Anonymous Reviewer

Had a wonderful evening here! My friend and I both had a House Salad (Huge!) and the Lobster Pot Pie. Decadent is the only word I can think of to describe it!! Big chunks of Maine Lobster, fabulous Sherry Cream Sauce, and Puff Pastry Crust to die for!! The staff is warm and welcoming. Prices are more than fair. Just a note...it is a small, lovely place, but not the place for small children. Perfect for a grown up date night though!! Wish they were open for lunch!! — Anonymous Reviewer

My mother loved the lobster pot pie. Lots of large pieces of lobster meat. So far I have tried the piƱa colada cake and the triple chocolate mousse. Both were just wonderful. Full of flavor and not too sweet! I'll be going back to try everything on the menu. — Anonymous Reviewer
