On Tuesday, September 29, 2009, I had lunch in Winchester at Patsy's Pastry Pizzas II, 158 North Loudoun Street, on the Oldtown Pedestrian Mall. My wife and I had previously eaten several times at the original Patsy's Pastry Pizza's location on West Jubal Early Drive.
This one downtown was quite new, having been open only a month, and occupied premises that had been Bartley's Shoe Repair, an old-fashioned shop, for many years.
The building had been completely remodeled as a restaurant, and had a long, narrow room with perhaps a dozen tables; some seated two people, and some four. The walls were decorated with pictures of landscapes, and the kitchen was in the rear.
There were sidewalk tables out front, with large umbrellas protecting them from the occasional drizzle and light rain downtown was experiencing on Tuesday. Despite the newness of the place, there were patrons both inside and out while I was there.
The menu offered a selection of pizzas, but it was somewhat limited; it included whole pizzas or pizza by the slice. It also had soups and salads, and I decided on a small taco salad. The salad had a bed of lettuce, with several cherry tomatoes thrown in.
A layer of taco chips was covered by a hot beef and beans mixture, topped with shredded cheese. I had ordered the smaller of the two sizes, thinking it would be a light lunch. However, it was a hearty meal for me, and took a while to eat. This place is a keeper on my list.
