How anyone can say they aren't impressed with Mel's is completely absurd to me! I go EVERY Tuesday and sometimes another day through the week. Her cupcakes are AMAZING... If you are looking for something fancy decorated don't go... I for one could care less how decorated it is... The taste is what matters most! and what size cupcake are you looking for? if you want a big cupcake, go on fridays she had gigantic cupcakes... Her cupcakes are every bit of standard size and some times a little larger! I also think her sugar free is very good. I got the Vanilla Vanilla and it was Delicious! I find the ladies to be very friendly. in fact I dont' think you could ask for nicer people. They ask for your flavor suggestions for future weeks and where else can you go and get 4-5 different flavors EVERY week! Kudo's to Mel and the ladies who work with her! You are obviously doing something right! Can't wait to taste the "Bloomin Wine Fest" Flavors on friday!!!!! — Anonymous Reviewer

We LOVE cupcakes! We were so excited when we heard about this 'new cupcakery' in town...the excitement soon fizzled. We wanted to sample the flavors so I ordered a dozen - each a different flavor. I was surprised at how small they were but shrugged it off...we are a 'supersized' nation and we need to get over that. Anyway, I loved the various flavors offered and thought some were very good ideas...but it just didn't carry through. The taste was so-so. Some have mentioned they taste like box mix and I would agree - it's like a yellow mix was used and then something interested was added...or chocolate...or whatever flavor. The decorating or finishing was also only so-so. Overall I really wasn't impressed. Then, when I attended the cupcake contest recently and Mel's donated a sugar-free and a gluten-free I thought that was awesome they had done this...then tasted them and was not blown away. I know gluten-free is difficult to make taste great but I have had better...and sugar-free isn't so hard to do...I have great sugar-free cupcakes and these were a let-down. — Anonymous Reviewer

I was walking on the downtown mall and decided to stop in to check out the newest addition to the string of shops. Mel's Cupcakes should be put out of business. If I wanted to pay two dollars for a cupcake I would have my niece make one out of play dough-- only it would most likely taste better. The quality is comparable to box mix. The staff was under dressed and highly unprofessional. Clean up the act. — Anonymous Reviewer

AWESOME! Not sure why people are saying they go by there and she is sold out...I go there every week between 12 - 1 pm to try new flavors and she has them. Amazing flavors and worth every penny! What I love most about Mel's cupcakes...she stays away from that traditional, too heavy and ever too sweet buttercream. Most people I know don't like buttercreams anymore and they will scrap it off...but Mel uses light whipped toppings, which is perfect. Also...if people would just take a minute to visit her website, it clearly states "First Come First Serve" and if you want an order of 6 or more...to call ahead and place an order. Mel...don't change a thing!! — Anonymous Reviewer

A friend and I thought we would stop for dessert after lunch one day. We purchased one each of two different flavors. We cut them in half so we could each try both flavors. Worth the $2.oo each? NO! Tasted sort of like a box mix and they were a little on the chewy side, which we found odd. Will I try again? Not likely. Cupcakes are pretty easy to make, so I'll attempt my own filled and flavored cupcakes or I'll stop by Martin's to buy one for less than a dollar that tastes so much better. — Anonymous Reviewer

I've been there twice and no cupcakes... even as early as 1pm and they are already out. What kind of planning is this? (well they actually had a keylime cupcake available 2 of them), but I passed and by the looks of them they were small in size. — Anonymous Reviewer

Amazing cupcakes! Who would have thought of a pistashio cupcake? I plan to come back every week to see what else Mel can come up with. Great job and good luck Mel. — Anonymous Reviewer

Small cupcakes. Not great in flavor either. You know when the kids don't touch them they are not good. We threw them away. — Anonymous Reviewer

It is nice to see a cupcake place in Winchester, but my excitement fizzled out when I actually had the cupcakes. The store is very cute, but I felt like the price was too high for the amount of cupcake that you actually get. We tried three different flavors and really enjoyed the choc. truffle. The others were just okay. — Anonymous Reviewer
