We had not been to Cantina D' Italia in awhile. But I saw the lunch special on FB and couldn't believe the pasta special. They offered a $4.95 pasta dish (Mon-Fri 11-3pm) with salad and bread. Deal! I had the Salsiccia Napoletana, sliced sausage and marinara sauce served over penne. The serving size was very fair for lunch and tasted outstanding. My wife was equally pleased with her choice. Thank you Cantina for always being fresh, consistent, and delicious! Your staff if always friendly and now that we are regulars they have remembered our order each time we come in. The atmosphere is comfortable (but some of the decor could be updated) and the outdoor patio is wonderful on summer nights! Also, their specials (meat/fish) are always fresh and perfectly prepared! Cantina used to be THE place to go for Italian. Not so much anymore. We've tried about 2-3 times over the past few months in hopes of a better experience - no dice. Both service and food were bad. Being in the restaurant business I realize may make me a little more critical, but we were really disappointed. Server (strawberry/red hair) seemed indifferent about her position there. Not rude, but no personality, very dry and to the point. A smile would have been nice. Food obviously microwaved, bland and lacked any flavor. I never send food back and I had to this time. She never asked why or what was wrong - just said okay - and asked what else I wanted without offering menu, suggestions or even an apology. And a manager never came to inquire what was wrong or even to deliver my new dinner. Unfortunately, I've been getting the same reports from friends of poor service and food. Although the food is excellent, unfortunately the wait staff is not as impressive. This ranks as some of the best itailan food I have ever experienced; however, the wait staff is not friendly at all. Over the past couple months I have eaten at Cantina D' Italia a number of times. Each time I had a different person wait on me. Their personalities left much to be desired.
