The decor looks rather simple, but the food and the drinks are to die for. It’s a family owned restaurant the owner is very involved in all that goes on. I got the Pollo Suprema which is a daily special and hubby got Palenque Tropical which could have fed two! It’s a little cheaper than other Tex-Mex restaurants in the area. Yikes, this was a let down! My husband and I love a good Mexican meal and this did not fit the bill. The food was totally flavorless, the food quality was poor, the portion sizes were small, and the prices were high considering these remarks. The salsa had zero salt, the retried beans tasted like paste, and our chimichangas were literally floating in oil. Even with a gift certificate I don't think we'd go back. Hopefully it was just an off-day for them. — Ram

I was not impressed with this restaurant. The decor from the previous establishment is noticeable. It is obviously a higher quality restaurant in terms of decor and ambiance. We ordered two margaritas, the regular and jalapeno, chips and salsa, a chicken taco salad, the lunch special which was a chile relleno, a tamale, rice and beans. Everything was average. Not great, not horrible. We will give this restaurant a second try for dinner, but it did not blow our minds. — Heated Meats

We have eaten here several times. Food is very good, moderately priced, staff is attentive. I will definitely continue to go back. Hope they do well. I love their salsa but the guacamole made tableside is delicious. My fav on the menu is the Chimi Dorado appetizer . . . mmmmm! — Anonymous Reviewer

This Mex restaurant is a cut above any Mex restaurant I have ever been to. Good prices as well. In my experience Mex restaurants are pretty much all the same and I can enjoy what they have to offer. El Palenque on the other hand offers dishes prepared with more expertise and pride the result of which is unique and delicious. — Anonymous Reviewer
